The Hampden Experience

This year's Dinner in the Hilton Hotel was another grand and glorious occasion.  A further 9 football legends were inducted into the Hall of Fame.

The 2007 inductees were:
Hall of Fame Dinner 07 Hilton Hotel

  • Willie Bauld (1928-77) Position: Centre Forward. Clubs: Hearts & Edinburgh City
  • Eric Caldow (1934- ) Position: Full Back. Clubs: Rangers & Stirling Albion
  • Jimmy Cowan (1926-68) Position: Goalkeeper. Clubs: St Mirren, Morton, Sunderland, Third Lanark
  • Alan Hansen (1955- ) Position: Centre Back. Clubs: Partick Thistle & Liverpool
  • Ally McCoist (1962- ) Position: Striker. Clubs: St Johnstone, Sunderland, Rangers, KIlmarnock
  • Rose Reilly (1955- ) Position: Striker, Midfield. Clubs: Stewarton, Reims, AC Milan, Catania, Lecce, Trani, Napoli, Fiorentina
  • Walter Smith (1948- ) Manager for Rangers, Everton, Scotland
  • Gordon Strachan (1957- )Position: Midfield. Clubs: Dundee, Aberdeen. Man Utd, Leeds United, Coventry City
  • Eddie Turnbull (1923- ) Position: Inside Forward. Clubs: Hibernian

    • hall of Fame Dinner 07 Rose Reilly AwardRose Reilly was the first woman to be inducted into the Scottish Football Hall of Fame. Elaine C Smith proudly presented the award. Rose rates the induction into the Hall of Fame as her greatest honour. " As a wee girl I wanted to be the best footballer in the world. it was my burning desire, my wee secret." Rose added: "I'm trampling on virgin ground as I am the first woman to be inducted. I am really proud on behalf of women because it's a man's world" Rose had an astounding career. She was voted the world's best female footballer in 1983. At her peak in 1983 Rose captained Italy and scored one of the goals as the Azzurri defeated the USA to lift the Women's World Cup in front of a 90,000 crowd at China's National Stadium.
      Hall of Fame Dinner 07 Alan Hansen Award
      Alan Hansen who is now a well known football pundit was also inducted. Hansen was thrilled to be inducted, he joked:" It was a great honour but I can't believe I'm in after Souness and Dalglish" Hansen was part of Liverpool's greatest ever team along with Graeme Souness and Kenny Dalglish who are also in the Hall of Fame. He made a total of 434 appearances for Liverpool and also won 26 caps for Scotland between 1982 and 1987. Aberdeen Legend Willie Miller presented Alan's award.


      hall of Fame Dinner 07 Gordon Strachan

      Gordon Strachan was touched to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. He said: "It was a smashing night. It is a highly critical world we live in but everyone likes a pat on the shoulder. To be listed among greats my father used to watch is amazing." Gordon is now a successful Manager of Celtic Football Club. Before his managerial days he was a talented and gifted footballer with Aberdeen, Manchester Utd and Leeds where he was voted player of the year in 1991. Strachan was capped 50 times by Scotland and played at the 1986 World Cup Finals in Mexico.
