John Wark

Football Clubs: Ipswich Town, Liverpool, Middlesbrough.

John Wark could play in defence and attack but was most effective as a midfielder who could break forward and score goals. Wark would enjoy three separate spells with Ipswich Town and was particularly successful in his first stint with the East Anglian club, winning the FA Cup in 1978, the UEFA Cup in 1981, as well as PFA Player of the Year and Young European Player of the Year awards in 1981. He was also a runner up with the club in the Football League Championship in both 1981 and 1982.

With Liverpool Wark would achieve further honours, winning the Football League Championship in 1984 and 1986. He was a runner up in the Intercontinental Cup in 1984, the European Super Cup, the European Cup and the Football League Championship in 1985, and the Football League Championship and Football League Cup in 1987. Either side of a brief spell with Middlesbrough Wark would enjoy two further spells at Ipswich, winning the Football League Second Division Championship in 1992. He was capped 29 times for Scotland, scoring seven goals and playing at the 1982 World Cup tournament in Spain.
